Disability

           Friendly

How are we disability friendly?

We recognise that disabilities come in many shapes and forms and we also understand that you know

your body and mind the best.

If possible we like to get a video call consultation before the appointment, to make sure we can get the right equipment and treatment for you and your needs.

Your Journey to the clinic:

As a business at Hawthorne Avenue we have great facilities to make your life easier.

We have private parking just outside our house.

Currently we have stairs to our clinic room so this is not wheelchair friendly.

From May onwards you will come in through a side gate.

We will have a ramp into our purpose built wooden lodge. We then aim to have a down stairs ramped access to a disability access bathroom.

What treatments are disability friendly?

Best thing about our treatments is we work each one around you as an individual!

During our video consultation we will chat about what you would like to get from a treatment for example relaxation or maybe assistance to get some strength and movement back in areas of your body. The therapist will then talk through the treatment options we feel will fit with your requirements and book you in.

Specialist areas:

There are treatments that we highly recommend for certain conditions.

Hot stones can be great for osteoarthritis, osteoporosis and fibromyalgia but not so good for rheumatoid arthritis. We do like to give you a tester first to make sure you body responds positively. If you think it is something your body would enjoy, but worried about a negative reaction, let us know and we will

fit you in for a tester.

We want you to get the best out of our treatments.

Lymphatic drainage (part of holistic) can be great if you get swollen areas from lack of movement or even drug induced swelling (water tablets and steroids are most common). For cancer treatments we would however recommend seeing a specialist for this.

Injury management can be great to get movement back after a time of staying static with illness or injury.

Medication:

Dependent on your medication we may need to double check with your health care provider if some oils and positions are appropriate for you.

We want to make sure that you are safe and comfortable throughout your treatment.

Any Questions?

We are happy to talk through any questions you may have.

GP permission:

With some conditions we will need GP/Doctor/Surgeon/Physiotherapy permission to do your treatment. This can be either through a letter given to you or we ask for their details and ask on you behalf.

This is something we need in our records for certain conditions, often you will have been informed by your medical professionals if this is the case.

What to wear:

We will discuss in your consultation what is easiest and most comfortable for you.

Many treatments can be done fully clothed, but doesn't feel quite as good. Many can also be done on the massage chair if lying down isn't an option.

We are currently

not wheelchair

accessable.
